Travis’ Story
“At the age of 51, I’m the most fit I have ever been in my life.”

I sought out help when my HbA1C reached 6.3. I thought I was doomed to face diabetes like my father. But more important than that, I kept thinking about what life would be like taking care of my now six year old daughter. I wanted to be healthy enough to enjoy raising her and for her to have a role model for her own health as she grew up. I’ve tried diets before but I always gave up and ended up weighing more that I started within months after quitting. There was so much out there I felt confused and most of it felt like a ploy to sell supplements or some recorded video content for tons of money. So I just ended up doing nothing for years.
My wife suggested I talk to Victor. He talked to me about my potential future if I let my blood sugar levels continue to rise. Honestly, despite witnessing my father’s issues, it hadn’t quite registered that I could be experiencing those same issues sooner rather than later. I was convinced I needed to take action but I still felt hopeless. Over the weeks Victor suggested a number of things that made plain sense but that I’d never heard of before. We created a personal plan that felt realistic - challenging but doable. We made what he calls “adult-steps” instead of “baby-steps” every three days. I couldn’t believe how quickly my body started to change once I cut out certain foods and replaced them with better ones. But really what helped the most was the change in eating schedule. I was consistently snacking without really thinking about it even though my snacks were “healthy.” It was mindless and constant. Victor had me count the times per day I was eating and drinking, even small things, anything besides tea and water. It turned out to be over 14 times per day. Now I eat two meals per day, fasting in the morning and its a lot easier than I thought it would be.
At first I started losing weight at a rate of about half a pound per day and my fasting blood sugar dropped into the sub -100 range after only a week. I was worried about protein. So Victor walked me through how much protein I was getting between my two meals which turned out to be more than enough. I was happy to see my allergies clear up and my sleep improve as well. My lower back pain went away after only two weeks. Since I was feeling better, we decided to start a strength building routine that involved a local, professional trainer. This accelerated my progress and a kept feeling better and better. What at first seemed like an imminent nightmare was now just a fading bad dream.
It’s great to check in every three days. We discuss the challenges I faced the previous days and create a plan for the next three days. It’s not automated. It’s organic and flexible based on my day-to-day. This is especially useful when dealing with birthday parties, weddings, and work events because those were the times I liked to “treat” myself. Victor helped me realize that I could still have a great time without going overboard. My weight continues to reduce and I feel way better overall. I feel both calmer and more energized and that affects every aspect of my family and work life. The results keep me motivated so I’ll keep going until I’m at my high school weight of 180lbs again.
Update - I surpassed my weight when I was 18 years old, and am now 169lbs, the lowest I’ve been since becoming an adult. At the age of 51, I’m the most fit I have ever been in my life. I now have full confidence that I’m setting a good example for my daughter and that we can enjoy our time together through the decades.
